Show Notes
Today begins our 2nd show with Fr Robert Edwards of St Margaret’s Episcopal Church. We are having a discussion on the 4 weeks of Advent. Since Advent celebrates the coming or arrival of the Christ in the bodily form of Jesus, the man, I think this is a perfect opportunity to examine how the birth of Jesus has impacted all humanity for the past 2000 years or so.
On the last show we discussed the idea of how, in order to receive light, there must first be darkness—physical, emotional and spiritual. In the holy text it says of Jesus, “out of darkness came the light” and in another place it says he was the light of the world.
In this series I like to chat about just a few ways that Jesus is the light of the world. How did his behaviors and his teachings impact the world forever? Today I would like to begin with the virtue of humility.
The story obviously begins with his humble birth, continues with a most humble lifestyle, and ends with a humiliating death alongside of criminals. The life of Jesus reflects profound humility—as we also find in many other great teachers and philosophers.
So let’s begin by welcoming my dear friend Father Robert Edwards to the show. Fr Rob… what’s up on this beautiful rainy day in So California?
