What is your Next Chapter?

Show Notes

Keith Page is a natural entrepreneur. He may have started more than a dozen groups, ministries and churches because of a serious need that required his vision and passion.

Keith Page began his career in youth ministry, and later moved onto large church planting as well as other social entrepreneurial projects. He has worked in Orange County, CA for the last 30 years and is the grateful father to two high school age daughters, one a ballerina and one an indie musician. So creativity does not drop far from the tree in Keith’s family.

Today, I am most interested in Keith’s newest project: it is what he labels an “all inclusive spiritual community.” It will be called “Homecoming Church” and opens Easter Sunday 2017 in the Costa Mesa, Newport Beach area.

What I’m curious about is discovering the heart and driving forces that moved Keith to start in new church in a county with hundreds (or thousands) already in existence

In this interview we delve deeply into Christianity and its relationship to the other major religions. Some will probably offended as others will be encouraged. That what makes for good listening. Enjoy!

Show Notes #16 Terry Hershey: Creative Orthodoxy

Today’s show is once again with my colleague, Terry Hershey. Terry is my “go-to guy” whenever I am searching out feedback on odd, yet essential, topics.

On this show Terry and I will enter the unorthodox notion of “Creative Orthodoxy.” Orthodox practices are essential for every discipline from science to art to religion. Each discipline requires proven practices and beliefs that actually define the discipline.

And then there come along the creative ones that “personalize” the orthodox practices so they can express the passions and sensibilities that drive their work and belief.

This truly is one of my favorite conversations on the podcast. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Our odd topic today is titled, “The Noble Pursuit of Boredom.” This show will offer unique ideas on boredom.

This might seem a bit peculiar to most people. It sure is for me, because, honestly, I am scared to death of boredom. I’ve got to be doing something somewhere in order to feel valued or needed or happy even.

When the real question is, ”Why do I need to be seeking busyness to make my life feel worthy or happy?” One of my greatest fears with quitting doing a job for a living was to feel bored or useless. Further revelation has caused me to reconsider the need for either one of those things.

This was a huge hole in my soul—and many other people—that needs to be rectified by something other than busyness.

One of my all-time favorite quotes is by Susan Ertz who writes:

Millions long for immortality who don't know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon."
