Today I’m feeling a need to talk about a subject that haunts just about all of us: Fear and Self-Doubt. Successful real estate mogul Sanford Coggins once told us on this podcast that, in his experience, “self-doubt” is the primary roadblock to achieving your dreams in life. Fear is mostly certainly holds its own as the other roadblock.

I think we learn far too early that failure is tragic, embarrassing, and proof that you are “Less Than.” Which is simply untrue. Neil Gaimen in his famous college graduation speech encourage the graduating seniors to “make mistakes, make lots of mistakes, make HUGE mistakes.”

That’s because mistakes are a marvelous tool that can lead you to eventual success. First of all, if you make a mistake, it means YOU TRIED! You were “in the game.” That alone is worthy. And, in addition, there are all the things you learn along the way.

But often, instead of learning helpful tools we learn to be afraid and doubt our ability. Therein lies the tragedy.
